Genesis 2

2

2:2-3 On the seventh day God completed the work he had been doing; he rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work he had done in creation.
The “Sabbath” day has not yet been established.
2:7 then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

2:15 The Lord God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it.
Man was created in the field, so he should work outside the home. Woman was made in the garden, so she should work inside the home. A wife should still strive to make her home a garden of Eden to her husband.

2:16-17 The Lord God gave the man this order: You are free to eat from any of the tress of the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. From that tree you shall not eat; when you eat from it you shall die.

2:18 The Lord God said: It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suited to him.
Women are not independent of men. We are made to help and support them.

2:21-23 So the Lord God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The Lord God then built the rib that he had taken from the man into a woman. then he brought her to the man, the man said: “This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; This one shall be called ‘woman,’ for out of man this one has been taken.”
Woman came from his rib, not his head, foot, or back. Adam was pleased to see her (“at last”).

2:24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body.
Marriage

2:25 The man and his wife were both naked, yet they felt no shame.
To truly and completely love someone is to be focused on them, not yourself or others. They are trusting in one another and are confident in themselves and their relationship.

I need to hold to a husband when the time comes and follow him instead of holding on to Mom and Dad. I also need to give him a safe place for his heart and love him truly and completely.

Lord, when the time comes, please let me be the wife women are meant to be.
